There were several significant songs that were heard before and after our wedding ceremony as people were coming and going. "Bridge Over Troubled Water" from S&G and "Turn Your Lights Down Low" - a duet from Bob Marley and Lauryn Hill. We did not yet know how significant Lauryn Hill was going to be for us as a newly married couple - culminating with an acoustic concert at Carnegie Hall in 2002 - forever blurring the line between secular and sacred. We stopped locking our doors soon after.

However still, the lyrics inscribed on our wedding rings, "If I Should Fall Behind, Wait for Me", are words that have remained relevant, and words that continue to become more present and more true through every year of our marriage. They are words of grace, rather than demand or expectation. A key to the sustainability of our love and our life together - our sacred element.

So...to the first and only girl I have ever kissed - happy ten year anniversary.
