Family Sacrifices

...

We asked each of our kids to give something up for the season of Lent, with the intention of praying specifically for Kelsie's parents over the forty days.

Francis was asked to give up one of his hot wheels. He was more than happy to do it. "Here you go Dad", he says.

Maggie calmly said she would scream if we touch (let alone take) any of her princesses. So I asked her to just give up a toy, not necessarily a princess. She went upstairs, and what did she bring down???? The Little Mermaid! She is a sweetheart.

Canaan crashed and burned at the suggestion that he give up just one video game. Tears...even though there are games that he never plays, and probably never will play - making the choice less sacrificial. But after seeing Francis and Maggie give something up, he walked over and chose Lego Batman for PS2, which is a game he still plays from time-to-time. I believe that this experience will be the most meaningful to him. He also asked me what Marion was going to give up for Lent. I suggested that she should give up eating crumbs and dirt off the floor. :)

Kelsie hasn't decided, I don't think.

Me...Alcohol. Givin' up the bourbon for a bit. :(

Again, praying specifically for God's Will to be done with Kelsie's parents situation and circumstance, and also for Kelsie's business, and my Peacemaking curriculum development.
