
Once again, like Kurosawa's "Rashomon" and Bergman's "The Virgin Spring", the Coen Brothers push us to the edge of devastation (this time in the ultra modern context of being Jewish in America in the 60's) with "A Serious Man" - only offering a popular tune from the sixties...
"when the truth is found to be lies!
and all the joy within you dies!
Don't you want somebody to love!
You better find somebody to love!"
...as penance for the holocaust that is relational. it is so fucking simple, yet so profound. I don't know. just a good kick in the balls, i guess.

when the tornado comes, who will you protect? who will protect you? who will calm the raging winds of suffering and loneliness and loss and grief? who? the insurance company?
