I recently had my Figure Drawing students gather around into a circle, then I sat with them and read HAROLD AND THE PURPLE CRAYON...are you familiar with it? Harold literally draws his world... he draws the sidewalk he walks on, his shakey scribbling creates an ocean that he falls into, then draws a boat lest he drown, and so on.

Following the reading, I asked them if art mattered. It was an intense and honest and rich discussion.
