so we drove up to Maine over the weekend. before so, however, i randomly decided to check bon iver's myspace to see if he would be in New England, before moving onto Ohio. well, he was, all this weekend.

so I call john helm to see about tickets for sunday in cape cod. he already has a ticket, and then affords me one, as available. unbeknown to me, the show was at an old congregational church, with a mural painted on the ceiling, bigger than the cistene chapel. amazing acoustics.

so we get there, after having some pizza in cape cod - but it is raining and chilly - but we are under an overhang, for the moment, with Carlo Rossi (burgundy). but somehow, things get backed up, and we are pushed forward, into the rain, with 30 to 40 minutes before the doors finally open up. bummer, or burgundy? well, burgundy, and a strangers umbrella.

I was weird about seeing bon iver in the summer, already - but this - this was appropriate. rain and chilly new england in july - always dependable. so we get in, finally - where the warmth really enhanced the burgundy - and we were in the second row from the stage. i, personally, was able to rest my head on the fake stone wall (made of styrofoam or something) and feel every vibration. it was perfect.

bon iver was on point, and excruciatingly vulnerable - as I told him after the show. we shook hands at first, as a greeting - but hugged before parting. justin.

i bought the vinyl lp. only for use in the underground, as approved by my bergman crucifix!

appropriate.
