Here, http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=2DF915DA6964630B, I posted the almost hour long "Charlie Rose" interview with Sean Penn and Eddie Vedder about "Into the Wild".

I was fascinated, in particular, when they began to discuss our culture's lack of a "right of passage" (traditional or not) - and how much that has to say about the epidemics of homes without fathers, the divorce rate, "depression" and other mental illnesses (treated with medication, instead of challenge), and our severe lack of community. they did not branch out into any of those issues in the interview - but that is what came to my mind, soon after.

when I think of the men who have most influenced my life (personal and otherwise), they were certainly men who sought to know and experience "Truth", even to the point of extreme, seemingly stupid, risk - seeking freedom from the oppression of fear.
