I experienced my first bit of resistance today with LLM. I am teaching Conflict Resolution during the winter months for the families I am working with. Recently, a Yoga instructor I got connected with, through a friend, expressed that she would like to teach Yoga to low-income women. We are meeting today to discuss what this can and will look like. I brought this up at staff meeting, and after I told them about this Yoga instructor who wanted to teach Yoga to the poor of Columbus, they all laughed like I told the funniest joke you have ever heard. It was really awkward. After that ended five minutes later, I was able to explain that the essence of conflict resolution (at least how I was trained) is very "Eastern" in nature, but that it heavily applies to "loving your neighbor" and "loving your enemy". The breathing techniques alone, in Yoga, are enough to begin building a foundation of how to "de-escalate" within a conflict.
Anyhow - it made it really obvious that I am not in the North-East anymore. Even so, I think we are going to broaden the invite, and do it at a community facility - and find out if there will be any kind of response to it. I think it could be very effective for women in this community, especially the ex-offenders.

How sad, how very sad. WWJD? Shame on LLM.
You need to go easy on those of us who've spent some time reading Frank Peretti. "Piercing The Darkness" scared the yoga right out of us! :-)
Plus, you're a freakin' East Coast Liberal! Love you man. Peace...
