Interestingly, the line Duo gives her: "It doesn't matter what's true, it matters how we live our lives" is precisely the reason why I disagree with his decision. In order for the how to matter, it has to have significance--otherwise it's arbitrary or determined. Escaping back into a life of ignorance isn't significant, it isn't moral. Regardless of the truth of the ease and false contentment found in escaping, it isn't a good "how".

Of course, it is because that's my line now that I'm so defensive of it. But I do think it's exploited here. Truth may be an exhausted category, but responsibility is still open for exploration and understanding.

yeah...how we live our lives completely depends on what we believe to be true or not. I think that was just some bad screen-writing. Why would you escape back to the matrix if "it matters how we live our lives"? You would escape in order for it to not matter.

anyway...the power here lies in the "test". It made me think about Oscar Romero...how he was constantly tested and tempted (even by the pope) to escape back into the safety of the cathedral...in order to serve communion to the corrupt, rather than the oppressed.
